Go to the nearest shelter. The adoption fee is less than $100, and those dogs need good homes.
I totally understand not wanting to pay big bucks for a registered purebred, but if you can't afford the adoption fee, you probably can't afford the cost of raising a dog.
U are not going to find a dog for free. you can adopt the dog from your local dog shelter, but u still have to pay.
