I live in southern California and I want to adopt a dog. Does anyone know of any good places to adopt from?

Check out the Los Angeles Animal shelters they have 5 shelters throughout southern California. You can adopt a dog from there for $86. that includes shots and Spay/Neutering. And around $20 if the dog is already spayed or neutered. Here is their website...

Any local Humane Society or animal shelter run by your county or city.
If you are looking for a specific breed, there are non-profit groups that specialize in most of them. Look them up on the internet.

Good for you!! I have worked with the local Humane Society for several years. It is a great organization to adopt from. Your local animal control office is also good, animals there are always desperately in need of a good home. There is also a website called Pet finder they will have listings from many different shelter and rescue groups in your area. I would also encourage everyone who wishes to adopt a pet to give some consideration to special needs pets. There is a wonderful website deafdogs.org for deaf dogs and I believe there is also one for blind dogs, maybe at blinddogs.org
