Answers:
Take him to the vet very soon. It might have a stomach virus.
One question, is he dewormed? If not, that's your reason why.
call the shelter first thing tomorroe morning. About a year ago I got a puppy from the shelter and this exact thing happened, turns out that my puppy had managed to get parvo between when she was tested and when she was vaccinated. The sooner they can catch it the easier it is to treat.
best get it checked out by the vets or it could be she is nervous about her/his new home
He's probably very stressed out at the moment from being shifted from his home to a new one. Give him time to settle in - he will need rest and peace and time to explore his new territory. He won't starve, leave out some dry bits for him and when he starts to nibble at those offer him extra food. By tomorrow night he should be eating again.
If you have trouble with him tonight - not knowing where he is sleeping - if he is in another room from you - try putting a ticking clock near his bed and something warm to snuggle up to (stuffed toy or something) and it will give him comfort.
Good luck :)
hmm what were they giving it call and ask them it might be the food change other than that I have no clue I would definately call and tell them the prob...
Just let it pass a day or so. 3 weeks ago when I got my puppy(8weeks) he urinated alot, never pooped, didnt eat and kept vomiting. When your dog is hungry he will eat and he'll be up and playful in a week or so. Just a suggestion, don't feed your dog canned food yet because he wont want to eat dry food if you start straight with the wet food. Your puppy will be fine.
The change of setting - from shelter to home - can really upset a young puppy - or any dog in fact. It is not unsual for them to go off their food and have tummy troubles for a few days. Also are you giving him a different type of food to what he had at the Shelter? The change in food may be upsetting his stomach.
You have three choices:
1) contact the Shelter, tell them whats happening and ask their advice, they may tell you the same as I've just said - that its the change of setting and to wait it out a few days. Also ask what food he was on at the shelter and try to get some.
2) take him to a vet to be checked out in case it is somethign serious he's picked up.
3) try to tempt him to eat something bland like small amounts of chicken or fish and see how he goes for a few days. Make sure he's drinking, keep him quiet (limit playtime and visitors) and give him a chance to get used to his new surroundings. Once he's taking the chicken/fish and keeping it down you can start to introduce small amounts of whatever you intend to feed him on.
Hope your pup is better soon!
best call the shelter. it could be nothing or something really badly wrong. or it could be stress - a lot has happened in the last few weeks to the pup.
shelter may say take to vet so might as well give them a call too.
Something is not right. Are you feeding your puppy appropriate food made specially for puppies? Two - call the shelter to let them know what is happening, and ask why they think it might be happening. Then seriously consider taking the poor creature to a vet for professional advice.
take it to the vets, puppies can get real dehydrated quick and if it's a life threatening virus like parvo, it can be life threatening.
I would call the shelter and tell them, they usually have a vet at the premises that may be able to see it without charging you, since you just adopted it.
A new puppy, in a new suroundings coming from a shelter is very nervous! IT CAN MEAN INSECURE FEELINGS.
UNTIL HE WILL FEEL SECURE WITH YOU ,YOU MIGHT WANT TO CONTACT YOUR VET,AND GET ADVICE.
I SUGGEST GIVING PLENTY OF LOVE AND ATTENTION.
YOU MIGHT WANT TO PURCHASE A TOY FOR HIM TO SNUGGLE WITH. I HAD A PUPPY I RAISED THAT WAS ABANDADON AND HE SOON GOT WHERE HE WOULD EAT GOOD. GOOD LUCK!!
first, at ten weeks they are not done with shots. they get them every 3 weeks until 16-20 weeks of age... when we got ours, she was 7wks old, had her first shot from breeders vet. we took her to ours on shedule, she gets 2nd shot, and picks up kennel cough that day, 7 days later i thought she was dying. an antibiotic shot and 10 days of pills, she recovered. next shot at vet, on schedule, all os ok, then 3 days later while walking, a neighbors 2 large aggresive rotts broke thru the door and came after us... the owner comes out says oops sorry,,, oh and we just had a pup die last night from parvo.....i am still mad at this one, a few days later my pup will not eat, drink, no energy, nothing, just layed there.she got parvo.. even tho she had shots. she was not done with series yet and not fully protected ..well i nursed her at home and again she survives...still has more shots to go. just be careful with this puppies health coming from a shelter, she was exposed to everything... and could be really sick, get her to another vet asap... just to be sure...
