I HAVE A WOUNDERFUL TWO YEAR OLD ROTTIE AND HE IS SCARED OF WATER. WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP HIM?

I'm a new mommy to a male rottie named Brutus and he dosen't like the water, I have tryed to bath him and it took me over an hafe an hour to get him in there. I just got him about two weeks ago and i could use all the help i can get. Thanks so much.
Answers:
then bathe him outside, dogs don't really like bathtubs.
by the way, you are really hurting my feelings with your yelling.
gently introduce him to water
show him that it cant harm him
Japshon is right. My Pit Bull is afraid of water also. She REFUSES to get in the tub. It takes me about the same time as you to get her in. She'll try to bite me and she squirms and growls. I bathe her outside.
With a large dog like the Rottie, I would suggest you take him to be groomed for bath time as sometimes allowing someone else to do it, might be easier on the dog. Some dogs just don't like water, maybe he fell into a pool or something as a young pup or maybe this is his first bath? Bath time is a great way to bond with your dog, make it a good thing with lots of sweet talk and praise. The only way is to maybe ease him into the water slowly and over time he just might begin to enjoy his bath with you. I have always bathed my dogs at young ages and even though it is not their favorite time they do look forward to the end when they get a wonderful treat.
Good luck!
Slowly introduce him to water. A kiddie pool outside will help, cause you can associate the pool with fun things like toys and food. Give the dog treats and encouragement. Until your dog can work around its fear you can use either waterless shampoo or dog bath wipes. Both of these options work well and use no water.
what you need to do is slowly introduce him to all of the features of a bath. leave things like the shampoo next to his toys (but make sure to watch him) so he will become accomodated to it. then leave your bathroom open and put some toys and dog treats in the entrance to the bathroom.slowly work your way closer and closer with him to the bathroom. then randomly spend time with him in the bathroom. once accustomed to the bathroom it will be easier to get him in there. then start being in the bathroom with him and let the water in the bathtup run while you are both in the room. once he becomes comfortable slowly start to bring him closer to the bathtub. eventually it will become easier to get him into the tub making it so much easier to bath him. mind you this will not happen over night. good luck!
