I have a one year old boxer and i want to crop his ears is it to late. if not how old can he be before he is?

Answers:
unfortunately too old, what makes the ears stand up is the development of the cartilage in the ear. as a puppy it is soft and ply able, they are cropped and taped up, as the cartilage hardens, it stays the way you make it. your dogs ears are already hardened plus it is a bad risk as the large arteries in his ears would cause more difficulty now that he is big. sorry:(And the guy that freaked out about ear cropping and such, its not evil, many human parents pierce there babies ears and there are circumcisions done all the time, and do you think they remember?also, ear cropping reduces ear infections by half because fresh air is exposed to them all the time, unlike floppy ears, expand your mind and think about what you said, the pain is not remembered and the nervous system is not fully developed.30 mins later, they are back playing with momma.)
WAY too late, they won't crop ears after 16 weeks/4 months old. Even if you cut them, they wouldn't stand up because the cartilige has permanently formed itself in the flopped-over shape. Sorry, you'll just have to enjoy him with natural ears!
why would you want to do that. Plus now it is to old and you should have done it when it was younger.
Yeah it's like 10 months too late.. You have to get the ears done when they are puppies.. The ears are set now.. They'll never stand.. You'll tape for the rest of his life and they'll never stand..
Ear cropping can only be done when the pups are very young. He's too old now to have it done.
why crop his ears?
that should be as illegal as docking a tail
they seem like terrible procedures:/
Its way too late, and why would you want to crop his ears?
Why the heck would you do that to ur animal?!?
would you want your ears cropped!?!
your evil!!
a dog is not there for you to harm your mother did not crop your ears and she might have wanted to!!
but she did not!
evil
evil
evil!!
EVIL!!!!!!!
LOSER!!!!!!!!!
There is really no reason to crop your boxers ears. Most boxer ears are not too floppy. Besides, the cartiledge has already set and cropping will be more difficult (more on the side of absolutely impossible). Recovery time will take longer and results are less guarantee (or not guarantee!). Price, longer recovery time, less guarantee results: the costs far outweigh the benefits.
In the show ring both crop and uncropped is accepted.
To late and why would you want to do it anyways?
mutilation for your pleasure?
yes its too late, the best time to do it is before they are three weeks old.
wow its way to late and even if u did it now it wouldn't work...and plus u would probably had a hard tI'me finding a vet who will do it.there is not more of a blood supply to the ear and plus the cartilage is formed to the shape of the droopy ear...hey just leave the ears they way they are.im sure your dog looks cute...the only problems u may have is the occasional ear infection from the moisture being trapped in! Good luck!
Why ? would you want to do something so mean ?? Yes it is to late .. Just like you are in life ,, get real ,, your like the lady with the puppy that whines , You dont deserve a dog . you want to Crop ears,, Do Your Own
He's much too old to have his ears cropped...
And unless he's a papered full-bred dog you want to use for show, cropping his ears is entirely unnecessary.
There is actually a movement in the dog community these days to make the "mutilation" of dogs (in order to meet an artifical and arbitrary standard of "beauty") illegal. Cropping tails and ears does NOTHING to enhance the dog, and subjects the animals to unwarranted pain and unnecessary surgery.
that bull shi* that you would even do that.some people (alot of people) are just plain cruel! why dont you go get your effing ears croped..SICK SICK SICK
Just a note to the people, Cropping still serves a purpose. Alot of people still hunt their dogs and it keeps them from catching them on brush and thorns. Ive got 1 female and my cousins hunts all his dogs on coyote. It isnt pretty when a coyote gets ahold of a floppy ear. Also it is still a very important part of alot of breeds in showing. Ever see a Great Dane win with floppy ears?
I have 2 uncropped Danes, and my friend has an uncropped boxer. Uncropped is the cutest!!
And regarding the official shows, the last Westminster I watched said they were looking to remove the "cropped" requirement for those breeds especially. Let's hope!
