I have a dog,and I was wandering, can dogs sense when something is going on,or bothering you?How can you tell?

Answers:
Like any animal, dogs take their signals from our body language. The tone of our voice, our stance or the way we move speaks volumes to animals about how we're feeling. Animals will react to our body language in the way their instincts direct them too. If you are shouting and waving your arms around, a dog will cringe because you're body language is telling them that your a threat so they try to make themselves as small as possible so you don't attack. So while they can't really 'sense' thats something is wrong, they read your body language and respond how they think is appropriate.
i've read that they can
i don't know how someone would be able to tell..
i guess they would follow the person around more
Oh absolutely they can.
They know more about you than you think, from puppy on they spend alot of time getting to know you, your routine etc.
When you are feeling down or not feeling well your actions change, your voice changes etc..so yes they know...
I recon they do easy.. likke cause when i was upset one day my dog came and licked me and made me feel better ..
also when im happy my dogs happy when im sad my dogs sad
They can sense it in your body language. If you are well bonded with your little friends, they can tell that something is different; cranky, sad ect. Mine puts his head in my lap or stays very close (he doesnt like to leave my side anyway lol), but when I'm my usual self my 70lb lapdog sits in my lap.
Dogs like most animals have great instincts to things like earthquakes and their owners health where humans cannot. I have seen television programs where dogs have been trained to assist persons with epilepsy. The dog knows before the attack comes and alerts the person with some type of signal so they know to take meds or get help. There was also a cat that lived in a nursing home and it could sense when a resident was going to pass away. The cat would go to the persons room and lay by them, alerting the nurses that death was soon to come. Stay away from me cat! lol If your dog senses something wrong with you like depression they tend to stay by your side wanting to be petted, scratched or talked to, letting you know that you are important to them, while you are giving your dog attention your blood pressure and breathing rate will drop because it is soothing to you both. Pay attention to your dogs behavior in different situations like when you are not well or there is a change in the weather. Your dog is so in tune with you and its surroundings before to long you will be in tune with your dog and know why he is doing what he is doing.
Dogs are fantastic at picking up on vibes, they learn your routine, your mannerisms, how your voice is as to weather you are happy, sad, relaxed, excited, stressed or angry (and every emotion in between)
My dogs are fab emotion readers, if i'm feeling sad my dog comes and licks my arm , if i'm poorly he will lay on my bed next to me (the only times he's allowed on my bed and he chooses to get on i don't call him), if i'm excited he will act like some demented animal, if i'm stressed he will stay out the way, if i'm angry he will skulk round the house and grumble at anyone and everyone.
I could go on for days but i think you get the idea - also remember a dog has a fantastic sense of smell so they can pick up on sweat , pheromones and can also be hormonal (my dog always acts up when i'm on my monthly and also when there is a full moon).
Our older dog is quite indifferent to all the commotions in our house and just chooses to ignore whats going on, than not actually know lol
I have 2 dogs ans I believe they can. When I had my appendix out my lab would rest her head on my stomach where my stiches were.. She had never ever done that before. and when I got the news about my brother in Iraq both of them came over when I was crying and rested thier heads on my lap and just sat there with me. NOrmally they are wanting to play and wrestle but no that day
It has been proving that dogs can sens when there is something wrong. How you can tell divers from dog to dog. When I'm upset or unhappy my dog would put his head on my lap and look at me for sometimes more than an hour sometimes it seems he's crying with me.if you and your dog have a good relationship he would definitely feel if somethings wrong, try talking to him/her you will feel so much better...
I think my dog can! When I am sick he will lay by my bed and when I am just having a bad day or I am sad he will lay on my feet!
Yes they can. So can cats. Like when I was upset about my ex going to Iraq and I was scared. My dogs and cats would follow me around more than usual. I would go use the bathroom and they would push the door open and go in there and wait for me to get done. It got a little disturbing. Its like they are more affectionate. They will go out of their way to make sure that you are ok. Like my cat hates men. When my stepdad's mother passed away she would go up to him and lay on him. Then let him pet her and wait until he is relaxed then get down. They know what is going on and they will show you that they know you just have to watch.
Yes. I had a husky mix, every time I was stressed out, Yama would get on me and start licking my ear. When ever I was depressed Yama would get up on me and hug away the tears and kiss me several times. I have a cat I swear is a cat that went to heaven 2 years ago and everytime I am stressed, depressed, or sick Oreo will always love bite my right ear below my piercing like Ninja used to. I find it wonderful that he does this. He reminds me so much of Ninja. The first time he did this I started crying tears of joy.
Hope this helps.
It is a well known fact that our pets are quick to pick up any emotion we may express at anytime. You might notice that your dog will be in a much cheerful mood if you are showing one. Also, if your in a depressed state of mind it can also have an effect upon the dog.
I have noticed on many occassions when I have had a really bad day and go home to my yorkie, she is very perceptive in the mood I may be in. Even when I may cry, she will come up to me be very concerned and lick me and just want to be in my arms. If you know your dog very well and you have that special bond with them, that is the only time you can decipher when they notice mood changes. I think its pretty cool though, that why they are mans best friend.
They sure can, I have a German Shepherd, and when I get angry at my wife he comes up to me and jumps up on me and starts to lick me in the face...I know he is telling me, "Don't be angry Poppa, She loves you and I love you, that is all that matters." I loose my anger and I start to scratch his tummy and I tell my wife that I am sorry, I just have so much pressure through out my day. Nevertheless, my point is they know! And they do not like negative emotions, I believe they call it that sixth sense. Dogs are the coolest!
My cat and my dog know when I am upset. They come sit on my lap and my toy poodle with nuzzle me and sometimes get in my face and whine, 'cause she's worried about me. The cat will sit in my lap and stare at me till I start petting her...which usually makes me feel better. Believe me they know, especially if you are close to them.
i have been lucky to have 2 of the best dogs any one could have. when i was sick my 5 year old would lay beside me. when i was upset my dog would try to get affection from me. my oldest dog got cancer and eventually went blind and my other dog would lead him around and lick his wounds. when he died she went in to a depression and we had to put her on medication (Prozac). i got cancer and my 5 year old came down with cancer 1 month late, i be live that she tried to take it from me.
My bullmastiff and boxer are extremely sensitive to my emotions. I can tell because of the way they look at me and the way they lick my tears if I cry.
well i would say they can because i was crying once because me and my bff were in a fight and so my dog came to me and started licking me and che put her head on my lap... so i would say so
yes they can, when we got ready to move, i wasnt home for a week (someone was watching her at my house) and my dog had never ran away b4 but she thought i had left her and she went lookin glad she was tagged i got her back. and after the move she started acting like she was hurt all the time but the vet said she wasnt hurt, she just wasnt sure what was goin on. so i say u will notice a change in behavior, i sure did.
i think so. my house dog always seems to know when i'm feeling bad or i need some quiet time or space.
One of my dogs can sense anger, even if its not directed towards her. I got in a fight with my dad once and when i was on my way to my room she was in my path and i didn't say anything to her but she high-tailed it into the other room. but when i sat down in my room she came right over to me. so i would say that some dogs do.
