I have a new puppy and my rotty seems to be getting along w/puppy real well. is this unusual?

no if your rottie is well socialized and secure in it's home there shouldn't be many problems. you will eventually encounter what you perceive to be a snip here or there, it's just your rottie showing the pup how to be a dog in this house. if there is a tiff correct the pup first. it's the newcomer in the house and needs to learn pecking order and not challenge it, if the older dog is out of line correct the rottie, but sounds like so far so good, just let them be in whatever you're doing because it's working. make sure you show affection equally to both dogs, feed them seperate and make sure they either share toys that are suitable for both of them. happy well balanced dogs usually don't have many issues with a new puppy. good luck, and be happy.

no. they jjust gets along really well. my friends cat and dog gets alone really well and its not the probalems with the pets. its normal

Your rotty seems to have a mothering instinct coming out with the new puppy in the house. That is very normal with former mothers.Take them getting along as a GOOD thing. Its better than fighting or agression.

i THINK MOST BIG DOGS/ SMALL DOGS GET ALONG WELL. MY LAB MET THIS BEAGLE AND THEY ARE STILL BFFS I GOT HER A YEAR AGO.

not at all .I have a st. Bernard %26 also a part yokie . They are great buddies.. The part yorkie had a pup also %26 the st. Bernard is great with the pup. Wrestles plays %26 even teaches the pup things too. Momma dog doesn't mind it either .

Not at all.. She is secure that she is the dominate dog.. So she has no problem being friendly with the pup.
