I agree with everyone else: puppy classes would be good. Our Pomeranian is 1 years old and she can sit and stay and like your puppy, she is very smart just like yours. When she misbehaves, my daughter and I tell her to go to her kennel. My daughter has established herself as the alpha or leader. She likes the consistency. I have always had larger dogs so it was much different and I am still learning about how to raise a small dog like her.
Puppy kindergarden! Best thing that happened with my dog :D
You need to take him to puppy classes where you and he can learn from a professional. I do understand how he can own you tho. I am owned totally by my chihuahuas..lol That is what small dogs do best,
I WOULD WATCH THE DOG WHISPERER...I LOVE THAT SHOW AND YOU REALLY LEARN ALOT...AND IF HE IS OWNING YOU? THATS NOT GOOD...ANIMAL PLANET HAS ALL KINDS OF SHOWS THAT TEACH YOU ALOT ABOUT TRAINING DOGS...AND TEACHING THE OWNERS HOW TO HAVE CONTROL OF THEIR DOGS INSTEAD OF THE DOGS CONTROLLING THEIR OWNER...LOL
You need to establish that you are the leader and in charge of your dog. Look your dogs in the eyes and don't smile, look stern, hold that look without blinking until your dog averts his eyes and looks away. You are now the leader of the pack. Be firm with your dog, speak in a commanding voice. Dogs are much happier if they know
consistency. Make sure you praise your dog when he behaves well and give him a treat as reward.
establish yourself as the leader set some rules and stick to them, dogs learn through consistancy.
Try to find a good training class one that does NOT use treats! you want a class that uses good old verbal and physical praise. Why? because you will always be able to give it and you will therefore be consistant. what happens to a dog that is trained to come when a treat is given, and the dog gets out of the house and you don't have a treat on hand? Lots! by the time you run and get one. training without treats not only gets you a well behaved dog that is reliable it also gives you a dog that is not overweight from all the extra treats. Good Luck:)
Poms are very smart. The fact that he "sits" at 9 months old is very good. Most of them are too hyper and can''t focus trick training.
