Good you are researching your intended business. So many businesses go bust because not enough study was done and too eager to jump right in. Not enough start up dollars for unexpected business costs is another cause of business failure.
.
Here's a run down on the profits and expenses you might expect.

Here is a good site that will give you virtual hands-on
opportunity to experience the types of decisions that need to be made when breeding dogs.

Another approach to learning about your business is to speak with other breeders. Find out why they are in business, would they do it again? What was the hardest part in getting started? etc. You can meet up with breeders at different dog shows and competitions.
You need to survey your local potential customers. What type of dog are they looking for? You will need this information so that you can produce a quality puppy. You will need to study up on genetics and the genetic history of each dog you buy. Breeding dogs that have a genetic family history of a health problem, will produce pups with health problems. No customer wants that. They'll be bringing the puppy back to you for a refund. Loss of profit when that happens.
Then there is advertising. The best way to advertise in the dog world is to show or compete and win ribbons on an offcial level, then your dogs sell for a lot more. To do well you must have a good dog and practice-LOTS! Once you have a good reputation, then it would be time to consider when to breed.
I didn't think that breeders consider thier jobs as part time.
More research into what is involved with being a breeder is advised.
Just a thought,,,
Maybe you should contact a breeder in your area, and see if they can advise you.
If you're in it to make "quick sales" rather than the love of the breed, you need to go to Wal-Mart and be a greeter, instead of being a breeder.
I don't think you understand what it takes to breed dogs. Do you think you go out %26 buy a bunch of dogs %26 resell them? That is the way your question sounds. That is not the way it is done. It is more than a FULL TIME job to be a breeder.
Why don't you get a part time job at a pet store if you like animals? Or at your local shelter.
You could talk to a reputable breeder also.
i would say yorkies, shih tzus, and maltese, or pomeraniens
Breeding dogs is not for amateurs and if you do not know what you are doing you will be dong a very cruel thing and will probably loose money, vet bills (bitches do'nt always have easy births, try volunteering at an animal shelter and you will see for yourself that there are already too many dogs brought into this world by irresponsible people
CONGRATULATIONS!! Another mill breeder in the making...
P.S. You're even going about that wrong
